Reports To : CSSD Senior Manager Broad Function: Responsible and accountable for the overall performance of the department. Ensures quality assurance of sterilization activities. Principal Responsibilities: Leadership : Represents the department in various committees and group meetings. Analyzes shortcomings and finds practical solutions. Ensures customer-friendly service is promoted to the staff through role modeling. Maintains an effective and open line of communication. Performs the job of department representative in accreditation and surveillance audits and related documentation activities. HR & manpower management Assesses the required manpower of the department by conducting time motion study in the department. Motivates staff to drive results. Recommends high performing staff for deserving appreciation. Takes disciplinary action against nonperforming employees. Functional management R eviews hospital occurrence reports with staff and ensures action plans are implemented to prevent future occurrences. Assesses the requirement of new instrument sets for various departments, co-ordinates with the supplier and purchase department for procurement. Conducts inter & intra departmental meetings. Innovation management Understands current trends in the field of sterile services and adapts them in the department if desired. Fiscal Management Adopts cost effective techniques in the department. Recommends cost containment activities in and around the department. Inventory management. Responsible for maintenance of instrument inventory and consumable inventory. Qualifications: Graduate in science from a recognized university . Post Graduate or Micro Biology knowledge is an advantage. Diploma in Hospital Management is proffered. Experience: At least 10 years experience in an acute care hospital. At least 5 years supervisory experience in an acute care hospital. Skills: Good interpersonal and communication skills and fluency in speaking English. Demonstrates excellence in leadership ability. Clinically and technically skilled and competent. People-oriented, flexible and adaptable. Ownership towards the activities and environment.
