Description:
We are looking for a skilled and experienced IBM Mainframe Systems Specialist to join our growing team. You will play a vital role in supporting and maintaining our critical mainframe infrastructure, ensuring its security, functionality, and performance.Primary Skills (Must-Have):- 5+ years of experience working with IBM mainframe systems (z/OS).- Strong understanding of IBM z/OS architecture and core components (e.g., MVS, JES, IEF).- In-depth knowledge of IBM IZPCA (Integrated Security and Access Control Facility) for managing user access and security on the mainframe.Proficiency in z/OS system administration tasks:- User and group management- Job scheduling and monitoring- System resource management- Backup and recovery procedures- Experience with z/OS security best practices and compliance requirements.- Familiarity with z/OS utilities (e.g., IEFUTIL, SMP/E)- Understanding of JCL (Job Control Language) for submitting mainframe jobs.- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.- Strong communication and collaboration skills.- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Bonus Points:- Experience with IBM RACF (Resource Access Control Facility) - a plus for in-depth expertise beyond IZPCA.- Experience with IBM Cognos for business intelligence and reporting (familiarity or prior experience).- Experience with other mainframe technologies (e.g., DB2, VSAM, CICS).- Experience with mainframe automation tools (e.g., CA automation products).- Mainframe scripting skills (e.g., REXX, REXX execs).Responsibilities:- Manage user access and security on the mainframe using IZPCA.- Perform z/OS system administration tasks to ensure smooth operation.- Monitor system performance and resource utilization.- Identify and troubleshoot system issues.- Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with regulations.- Automate routine system administration tasks (if scripting skills are present).- Participate in system upgrades and migrations.- Provide support to end-users and other teams on mainframe-related issues.- Stay up-to-date with the latest IBM mainframe technologies and best practices.
