PLM/CAD Application Engineer

Position overview Reports to the IT Manager, PLM/CAD Application Engineer is responsible for implementing, and supporting Product Lifecycle Management solutions that align with the Thermon's business objectives. PLM/CAD Application Engineer will work closely with stakeholders, including business leaders, IT teams, and vendors, to understand requirements, develop strategies, and deliver scalable PLM solutions that streamline processes and enhance productivity. Primary duties Enjoys solving problems and has a strong technical background in PDM/PLM/CAD application management and software development. Understand details of CAD/PLM system needs while also providing strategic inputs on overall architecture to design, implement, develop, and promote internal business processes. Develop implementation strategies and roadmaps for deploying PLM solutions across the organization. Supports the PLM applications for all Thermon business lines and be the interface to our Enterprise systems including ERP and our Manufacturing tools. Create architecture of PLM implementation, determine Thermon's PLM implementation needs and create workflows, HTTP codes, and Java scripts for automation in PLM. Work with PLM solution provider/resellers and contribute to streamlining design processes, improving collaboration, and ensuring efficient CAD/PLM design practices with Thermon's equipment. Collaborate with Thermon's business process owners to understand current processes and design optimized methodologies using Autodesk Fusion Manage PLM software. Leverage Autodesk PLM software to streamline design processes, manage product data, and enhance collaboration among functional (Engineering, R&D, Product Management, IT) teams. Ensure seamless integration with Autodesk products and Thermon's design and engineering workflows, addressing any interoperability challenges. Develop training materials and documentation for Thermon engineers and designers on the use of PLM software and optimized methodologies. Adopt industry best practices, emerging technologies, and advancements in PLM solutions to continually refine and enhance design processes. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and IT, to implement and standardize PLM methodologies and ensure that implemented methodologies meet quality standards and compliance requirements. Test, troubleshoot and optimize performance to ensure the reliability and scalability of PLM solutions. Education and Qualification Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science / Electrical or related field. 3+ years of experience in PLM technology domain (solution design, install, configuration, setup, and upgrades). 3+ years of experience with front-end (design tools), and the backend (MCAD library/design database, server infrastructure) 3+ years Enterprise Tool administration experience, debugging and solving client and server-side application issues, software installation, configuration, etc. 3+ years of developing and documenting engineering processes related to PDM/PLM/CAD tools and engineering activities. Development experience with PDM/PLM/CAD - SOA, both server, client and web-client customizations. Multiple years of experience with end-to-end product delivery while supporting a large and active user base Experience with Windows servers, Batch scripts, PowerShell, Windows file servers, Hyper-V is preferred. Experience with ECAD systems, engineering lifecycle management and workflows is preferred. Experience with LDAP and SAML for user management and authentication is preferred. Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Python) and web technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is preferred. Relevant certifications in PLM (e.g., Siemens PLM Certification, PTC Certified PLM Consultant) are a plus. Multiple years of experience conducting the following activities: Business requirements gathering, fit-gap analysis, functional design process, system testing and solution delivery, UAT customer support, process document creations and review, working with onsite and offshore delivery model. Skills Experience with SaaS models and Cloud based technology. Ability to analyze customer requirements and develop solutions to address Customer business scenarios/challenges. Strong documentation skills to convey design solutions, process discussions, reference & training materials. Knowledge of state-of-the-art engineering and manufacturing best practices, ie; Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing. Knowledge of PLM beyond engineering in areas such as Item/BOM, Change Management, Quality, Compliance (Industry, Environmental), Document Control, Audit & Reporting, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Field Service. Experience with Data management within the MCAD/ mechanical engineering/ manufacturing industry. Strong understanding of data modeling, system integration, and enterprise architecture principles. Familiarity with ALM / SDLC tools Experience working with Autodesk Fusion 360 Manage or Windchill or Teamcenter or any PLM system. Experience with ERP integrations including Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations is preferred. Knowledge of 3D CAD environments is necessary. Proven ability to drive change and implement process improvements in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Strong analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills Experience in Root cause analysis and escalations. Good experience in creating functional / technical documentation. Good communicator and presentation skills Fluent English communication skills
