Role : iSeries / AS400 Admin. Technical / Functional Skills :User Administration :- Deep understanding of IBM i user administration.Backup(BRMS) :- Deep understanding in how backup will be done in IBM i using BRMS.- Also knowledge on working with virtual tapes in IBM i is necessary.HMC/VIOS :- Mainly done by AIX team but general understanding is necessary. Data Domain : - Need to understand how virtual tape library works.- Rest can be trained on tape allocations and replication etc.Cable Matrix :- Not necessary to be able to create one but understanding of HW components like FCNetwork-adapters needed. Job Scheduling :- Can schedule and troubleshoot job issues.- Deep understanding in how Job scheduling needs to be set up on IBM i and how to maintain and troubleshoot them.DR Concepts :- Understanding in how DR can work in an IBM i environment.- Means having a clue about Standby partitions or High Availability set up, Mirroring of disk, etc.Patch Management :- Deep knowledge how to patch systems and being able to do it by her/ his self.LPAR Creation :- Deep knowledge about how to install an IBM i partition in a virtual environment like logical partitions.- Knowledge how to install from DVD/CD as well as via NIM Server.SQL and scripting Knowledge :- Need to understand how to pull up report using basic SQL queries and need to understand how to read CL programs and create one if needed.Troubleshooting :- Deep knowledge how to troubleshoot IBM i systems (i.e. High CPU, Disk overflow, Jobs creating issues, etc.) Analytical skills :- Deep knowledge in how to find i.e. bottlenecks in performance or how to find an issue step by step.
