Job Title: Database Administrator (DBA) Job Summary: As a Database Administrator (DBA), you will be responsible for the setup of SQL Server on Azure, performance, integrity, and security of the organization's databases. You will work closely with the IT team, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure optimal database functionality. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining database systems, as well as troubleshooting issues and ensuring data availability and accessibility. Key Responsibilities: Database Design and Implementation: Collaborate with software developers, system architects, and other stakeholders to design and implement efficient and scalable database solutions. Evaluate database requirements and recommend appropriate database platforms, technologies, and architectures. Design and implement database schemas, tables, indexes, and views to support application requirements. Database Management: Install, configure, and upgrade database software and related tools. Monitor database performance and resource utilization to ensure optimal performance and scalability. Implement backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data and minimize downtime. Manage database security, including user access controls, authentication, and data encryption. Performance Tuning and Optimization: Identify and address performance bottlenecks through query optimization, index tuning, and other performance tuning techniques. Analyze and optimize database configurations to improve overall system performance. Data Integrity and Quality: Ensure data integrity by implementing constraints, validations, and referential integrity rules. Monitor and maintain data quality standards to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of data. Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution: Investigate and resolve database-related issues, such as data corruption, performance degradation, and system errors. Provide timely and effective support for database-related incidents and emergencies. Documentation and Reporting: Document database designs, configurations, procedures, and best practices. Generate reports on database performance, availability, and security compliance. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Proven experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role. In-depth knowledge of SQL Server database management systems (DBMS) 2 to 4 years experience as a DBA Experience with SQL Server setup on Azure Strong understanding of database design principles, normalization, and data modeling techniques. Experience with database performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with database security best practices and regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA). Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Database Administrator) are a plus.
