Description:
Role Overview :As an IBM z/OS Mainframe Administrator, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of z/OS operating systems and related software in a CPU Sysplex environment. You will work closely with other IT teams to ensure the availability, performance, and security of mainframe systems. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing Program Temporary Fixes (PTFs) and supporting a multi-CPU Sysplex environment to meet the organization's requirements.Responsibilities :- Install, configure, and maintain z/OS operating systems and related software in a CPU Sysplex environment.- Monitor system performance and capacity to ensure optimal performance and scalability of mainframe systems.- Implement and maintain security controls and best practices to protect mainframe resources from unauthorized access and data breaches.- Manage Program Temporary Fixes (PTFs) and apply maintenance updates to z/OS and related software components.- Coordinate with software vendors and internal teams to troubleshoot and resolve software-related issues in a timely manner.- Provide technical support and assistance to application developers, system programmers, and other IT teams as needed.- Develop and maintain documentation, procedures, and standards for mainframe systems administration tasks.- Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing activities to ensure the availability and integrity of mainframe systems in the event of a disaster.- Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in mainframe systems administration to continuously improve the efficiency and reliability of mainframe systems.Requirements :- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.- 3 - 7 years of experience in IBM z/OS mainframe systems administration.- Hands-on experience with z/OS installation, configuration, and maintenance in a CPU Sysplex environment.- Strong understanding of mainframe hardware architecture, including z/Architecture and Parallel Sysplex.- Proficiency in managing Program Temporary Fixes (PTFs) and applying maintenance updates to z/OS and related software components.- Experience supporting a multi-CPU Sysplex environment is preferred.- Knowledge of mainframe security controls and best practices for securing mainframe resources.- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a distributed system.- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.- Relevant certifications such as IBM Certified System Administrator - z/OS or similar are preferred.
