As a System Administrator with 4-8 years of experience, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware, software, and network systems. You will ensure the reliability, security, and optimal performance of IT infrastructure components, including servers, operating systems, virtualization platforms, and networking devices. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in system administration, along with proficiency in scripting, automation, and ITIL best practices.Key Responsibilities :System Installation and Configuration :Install and configure server hardware, operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows Server), and software applications based on organizational requirements and best practices.Set up and maintain virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) to optimize resource utilization and facilitate server consolidation.System Monitoring and Performance Tuning :Monitor system performance, resource utilization, and network traffic to identify and address performance bottlenecks and capacity issues.Implement performance tuning strategies to optimize system performance and ensure efficient resource utilization.Security Management :Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems from unauthorized access, malware, and other security threats.Configure and manage firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and security policies to safeguard network infrastructure.Backup and Disaster Recovery :Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure data integrity and availability in case of system failures or disasters.Conduct regular backups, perform data restoration tests, and update disaster recovery plans as needed.Patch Management and Software Updates :Manage system patches and software updates to ensure systems are up-to-date with the latest security patches and bug fixes.Develop and implement patch management policies and procedures to minimize system vulnerabilities and downtime.Automation and Scripting :Develop and maintain scripts and automation tools to streamline system administration tasks, such as configuration management, software deployment, and monitoring.Implement automation frameworks (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) to automate repetitive tasks and improve operational efficiency.Incident and Problem Management :Respond to system alerts, incidents, and service requests in a timely manner, following ITIL incident and problem management processes.Troubleshoot system issues, identify root causes, and implement permanent solutions to prevent recurrence.Documentation and Knowledge Sharing :Create and maintain system documentation, including configuration guides, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and troubleshooting manuals.Share knowledge and best practices with team members and stakeholders to enhance overall system administration capabilities.Key Technical Skills :Proficiency in system administration tasks, including server installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.Strong understanding of operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows Server) and virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).Experience with networking protocols, services, and devices (e.g. , TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routers, switches).Knowledge of security principles and best practices, including access control, encryption, and security compliance frameworks (e.g., PCI DSS, HIPAA).Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions and procedures.Scripting and automation skills using languages such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, or Ruby.Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) and version control systems (e. g, Git).Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues effectively.Qualifications :Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.4-8 years of relevant experience in system administration or related roles.Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), VMware Certified Professional (VCP), or equivalent are desirable.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.Strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
