Job Description : We are seeking a skilled Postgres Database Administrator (DBA) who has experience working with Amazon RDS (Relational Database Service) and DMS (Database Migration Service) including VM dB's... The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of our Postgres database systems in a cloud environment. This role involves managing and optimizing database configurations, monitoring system health, troubleshooting issues, and implementing best practices for database management. Additionally, the candidate will be involved in database migration projects using Amazon DMS and should possess strong expertise in this area. Responsibilities : - Manage and maintain Postgres database instances deployed on Amazon RDS/Aurora and self-managed . - Configure and optimize database parameters to ensure optimal performance and resource utilization. - Monitor database systems to identify and address performance issues, security vulnerabilities, and scalability challenges. - Perform routine database maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, and software upgrades. - Implement and maintain database security measures to safeguard sensitive data. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement database solutions that meet business requirements. - Utilize Amazon DMS for database migration projects, ensuring seamless and efficient data transfer between different database platforms. - Troubleshoot database-related issues and provide timely resolution to minimize downtime and ensure uninterrupted operations. - Document database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing and future reference. - Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies related to database management and cloud services. Requirements : - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. - Proven work experience as a Database Administrator, specifically with PostgreSQL. - Hands-on experience managing Postgres databases deployed on Amazon RDS & self managed . - Proficiency in using Amazon DMS for database migration projects. - Strong understanding of database performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting. - Experience with database security best practices and implementing access controls. - Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and services, particularly Amazon Web Services (AWS). - Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. - Effective communication and collaboration abilities. - AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Database - Specialty) would be a plus. Preferred Qualifications : - Experience working in an Agile/DevOps environment. - Prior experience in a similar role within a fast-paced, high-growth organization (ref:hirist.tech)
