Position Overview :We are seeking a skilled Senior COBOL AS400 Developer to join our team. As a Senior Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining COBOL applications on the AS400 platform. You will leverage your expertise in COBOL programming, AS400 development tools, and database management to deliver high-quality solutions that meet business requirements.Key Responsibilities :Application Development :- Design, develop, and implement COBOL applications on the AS400 platform.- Write efficient and scalable code to meet business requirements and performance goals.- Perform unit testing, code reviews, and debugging to ensure quality and reliability.AS400 Platform Management :- Manage AS400 development environments, including libraries, objects, and job queues.- Configure and optimize AS400 system settings for optimal performance and reliability.- Monitor system resources and troubleshoot issues to ensure smooth operation.Database Management :- Design and maintain databases on the AS400 platform using DB2.- Write SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers to support application functionality.- Optimize database performance and ensure data integrity and security.Integration and Interfaces :- Integrate COBOL applications with external systems and interfaces.- Develop and maintain data interfaces, file transfers, and batch processing jobs.- Ensure seamless data flow and interoperability between different systems.Documentation and Reporting :- Create technical documentation, including design documents, specifications, and user manuals.- Generate reports on development progress, issues, and resolutions for stakeholders.Team Collaboration :- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, testers, and system administrators, to deliver integrated solutions.- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior developers and team members.Qualifications and Experience :- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.- 6-10 years of experience in COBOL programming and AS400 development.- Proficiency in AS400 development tools and utilities, including DDS, CL, and Query/400.- Strong understanding of COBOL programming concepts, data structures, and file handling.- Experience with DB2 database management on the AS400 platform.- Familiarity with development methodologies such as Agile or Waterfall.- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a team environment.
