Description:
Experience:- 5-10 years of experience in Windows administration, with a strong focus on designing, implementing, and managing storage and high availability solutions.Proven Experience in:- Windows Server Administration (2008 R2 - 2019): Installation, configuration, security, and ongoing maintenance of Windows Server environments.- Networking Fundamentals: Understanding of TCP/IP protocols, network troubleshooting, and basic network security principles.- Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks in Windows environments.- Patch Management & System Updates: Implementing and managing a comprehensive patch management strategy for timely updates.- Customer Support & Communication: Providing excellent technical support to internal or external customers, effectively communicating technical concepts, and resolving issues efficiently.Technical Skills:Storage & High Availability (SHA):- In-depth knowledge of Hyper-V virtualization technology for creating and managing virtual machines.- Expertise in configuring and managing Failover Clustering for high availability deployments.- Understanding of Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) technologies for optimal storage solutions.- Proficiency in implementing and managing backup and recovery solutions like Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).- Strong understanding of Windows Firewall configuration and security best practices.- Deep understanding of various storage types (HDD, SSD), RAID configurations, and best practices for optimal storage performance and scalability.- Working knowledge of server hardware components and upgrade processes.Additional Technologies:- Familiarity with Distributed File System (DFS) and Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC) for distributed applications.- Experience with Server Core administration for a minimal footprint server environment (preferred).Soft Skills:- Leadership and problem-solving skills to handle complex technical challenges and customer-facing situations effectively.- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills for clear and concise technical communication.- Ability to build rapport with customers, gather information efficiently, explain technical concepts in an understandable manner, and inspire confidence.- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently.- Excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with internal teams (infrastructure, applications) to achieve shared goals.Additional Requirements:- Ability to work in shifts following the US holiday calendar (majority EST time zone).- Strong understanding of key SHA concepts: quorum in clusters, failover clusters, Hyper-V checkpoints, and check disk functionality.
