Description:
Responsibilities :- Provide technical leadership for all aspects of database management such as database lifecycle management, monitoring, support, disaster recovery, compliance, and standards.- Research new MySQL & DB2 LUW database versions, features, tools, and technologies with an Enterprise perspective to meet customer needs while maintaining a secure database environment.- Research, benchmark, and suggest improvements to database support processes, customer experience (CX) improvements, and compliance requirements.- Provide 3rd and 4th level database support for complex issues.- Participate in and manage database related projects, database security patching audits, and compliance reviews and testing.- Develop new and update existing database technology related documentation as needed.- Coach and communicate information to Client's application support teams and peers across the enterprise on database technology changes, new features, key projects, and customer experience improvements.- Participate on customer driven and Division/department projects. Required Skillsets :- Should have 8+ years of relevant experience in relevant technologies.- DB2 LUW database administration skills managing DB2 database versions 11.1 and 11.5 and MySQL versions 5.7 & 8.0.- DB2 LUW experience with high availability technology (HADR).- MySQL experience in setup, configuration, and administration of HA configuration and setup, including associated HA Proxy configurations.- DB2 LUW Data Console Manager experience configuring, administration and monitoring.- Caterpillar: Confidential Green.- Strong understanding of backup and recovery methods, imports/exports, data movement concepts.- Database Lifecycle Management (DBLM).- Database Hardware configuration, Patching, Upgrade planning and execution.- Database Performance management.- Scripting (shell, Perl, PHP, PL/SQL (Oracle structured scripting language used for OTS).- Linux / UNIX operating systems (MAINLY RedHat Linux Rhel7/8, but general awareness of AIX).- Strong verbal and written communication skills, presentation, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Top Candidate Will Also Have :- Has strong MySQL Database skills and working experience and solid understanding of the DB2 LUW database platform as well.- Experience in configuration and concepts of DB2 federation and cross platform connect technologies.- Works well with a geographically distributed team.- Quickly learns new technologies and apply them with an enterprise perspective.- Acts in a self-directed manner, independently researching tools/libraries/technologies or solving a problem with minimal oversight and instructions.- Experience with Technical project management, technical leadership, and strong communication skills to work with DBAs and application teams in a variety of situations.- Providing on the job training and developing learning materials for DBAs. Technical problem-solving skills :- Cloud computing platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services and associated cloud database concepts.- IT Service Management (ITSM) process & Root cause analysis (RCA) processes.- Service Now.- Database security threats and security best practices.
