Job Description :We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, building, running, and monitoring Okta's production infrastructure, ensuring security best practices, and leading initiatives to enhance our security posture. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud environments, automation, and security.Key Responsibilities :- Infrastructure Design and Management : Design, build, run, and monitor Okta's production infrastructure, ensuring reliability and performance.- Security Best Practices : Act as an evangelist for security best practices and lead initiatives/projects to strengthen the security of our critical infrastructure.- Incident Response : Respond to production incidents, triage complex issues, and implement measures to prevent future occurrences.- Automation : Identify and automate manual processes to enhance efficiency and reliability.- Monitoring Tools Evolution : Continuously improve our monitoring tools and platform to maintain high operational standards.- Best Practices Promotion : Promote and apply best practices for building scalable and reliable services across the engineering team.- Technical Documentation : Develop and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and procedures for operational excellence.- On-Call Support : Support a 24x7 online environment as part of an on-call rotation, ensuring continuous service availability.- Technical SME : Serve as a technical subject matter expert for a team focused on designing and building Okta's production infrastructure with a strong emphasis on security at scale in the cloud.Key Skills :- Cloud Services : Extensive experience with AWS (EC2, ECS, KMS, Kinesis, RDS), GCP (GKE, GCE), or other cloud providers, specifically in automating, securing, and running large-scale production IAM and containerized services.- CI/CD and Automation : Deep knowledge of CI/CD principles, operational tooling (Ruby, Python, Go, shell scripting), and configuration management tools like Chef and Terraform.- Linux and Networking : Strong understanding of Linux fundamentals, OS hardening, networking concepts, and IP protocols.- Security Tools : Proficiency with industry-standard security tools such as Nessus, Qualys, OSQuery, Splunk, etc.- Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) : Experience with PKI and secrets management.- Troubleshooting : Exceptional troubleshooting skills, with a proven track record of resolving complex production issues.Preferred Qualifications :- Threat Assessment: Experience conducting threat assessments and assessing vulnerabilities in a high-availability setting.- Database Knowledge : Understanding of MySQL, including replication and clustering strategies, and familiarity with data stores such as DynamoDB, Redis, and Elasticsearch.- Project Collaboration : Proven experience in collaborating across teams to deliver complex horizontal projects.- Security Background : Strong background in security and a deep understanding of best practices for maintaining a secure environment.Educational Requirements :Degree : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.Personal Attributes :- Proactive Problem Solver : Willingness to go the extra mile to see a problem and fix it.- Leadership : Passionate about encouraging the development of engineering peers and leading by example.- Team Player : Ability to work effectively within a team and across multiple teams.- Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
