Role Description : The Data Engineering Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of automation & data engineering projects within the organization. This role involves coordinating cross-functional teams, managing project timelines and budgets, and ensuring the successful delivery of automation solutions that enhance efficiency and productivity. The candidate should have a strong background in project management, a deep understanding of data pipeline/automation technologies, Data Engineering delivery lifecycle and excellent leadership skills.What You Will Do :- Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and resource allocation- Establish project governance structures and ensure adherence to project management best practices.- Facilitate agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.- Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to ensure that the product backlog is well-defined and prioritized.- Conduct regular sprint grooming sessions to refine and prioritize backlog items, ensuring clear and actionable user stories.- Work as part of cross-functional teams, including data engineers, developers, engineers, QA testers, and business analysts, to deliver Enterprise Data projects.- Assign tasks, set priorities, and monitor team performance to ensure project goals are met.- Foster a collaborative and motivated team environment, providing guidance and support as needed.- Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, including executives, business units, and external partners.- Provide regular project updates, including status reports, risk assessments, and progress metrics.- Facilitate meetings and presentations to communicate project milestones and outcomes.- Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to address them.- Monitor project risks throughout the project lifecycle and implement contingency plans as necessary.- Conduct post-project reviews to identify lessons learned and improve future project processes.- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring that projects are delivered within financial constraints.- Track project cost and provide financial reports to stakeholders.- Ensure that data & automation solutions meet quality standards and align with organizational requirements.- Implement testing and validation procedures to verify the functionality and performance of automation systems.- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, security policies, and best practices.- Stay updated with the latest data & automation technologies, tools, and industry trends.- Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend automation solutions to enhance efficiency.- Drive initiatives to optimize project management methodologies and tools.What You Will Bring :- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field- Proven experience of at least 5+ years of experience in project management, with a focus on data engineering/automation or technology projects.- Proven track record of managing complex projects from initiation to completion.- Experience working with data platforms, automation tools and technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Fivetran, dbt, Python, Azure functions, AI, ML, scripting languages).- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira).- Proficiency in driving best practices across data platforms preferred- Understanding of Data Engineering and Agile methodologies.- Excellent leadership and team management skills.- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.- Familiarity with cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure).- Understanding of IT infrastructure and cybersecurity best practices.- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification.- Experience with process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma (ref:hirist.tech)
