Job Summary:We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cognos Administrator to join our team. You will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation, performance, and security of our Cognos environment, supporting the needs of our business users. This role requires a blend of technical expertise in Cognos administration, strong analytical skills, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.Responsibilities:Production Support:- Manage and restart Cognos services on production servers.- Perform infrastructure administration tasks for Cognos on Linux environments, including vulnerability patching.- Manage Cognos server deployments and user access within the production environment.- Conduct regular cleanup processes to maintain system health.- Implement configuration changes as needed.Installation and Configuration:- Install, configure, and maintain Cognos BI software across various server types (database, web, application).- Ensure seamless integration with other relevant systems and applications.User and Security Management:- Manage user accounts, groups, roles, and permissions within the Cognos environment.- Implement and enforce security policies and access controls to safeguard sensitive data.Monitoring and Performance Tuning:- Proactively monitor the performance of Cognos servers, reports, and queries.- Identify and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, optimizing system resources for efficiency.Backup and Recovery:- Develop and implement robust backup and recovery procedures for Cognos content and configurations.- Regularly test and validate backup processes to ensure data integrity and reliable restoration.Patch Management and Upgrades:- Apply patches, hotfixes, and updates to Cognos software in a timely manner.- Plan and execute Cognos version upgrades and migrations as required.Metadata Management:- Manage and maintain metadata objects like data models, report specifications, and data source connections.- Ensure data consistency and accuracy across reports and dashboards.Capacity Planning:- Analyze resource requirements and scale the Cognos infrastructure to accommodate growing user demands.- Monitor usage trends and forecast future needs for optimized resource allocation.Troubleshooting and Support:- Investigate and resolve technical issues reported by users or identified through monitoring tools.- Provide technical support and assistance to users and developers regarding Cognos functionality.
