And that's where you come in, to develop and expand the core layers that define Avalara's Connectors/Integrations product line.As a Software Engineer, you will apply your technical knowledge and drive to create some market leading technology. We have a phenomenal team working in an open, collaborative environment that makes taxes and compliance less taxing to deal with. It will be up to you to convert product vision and requirements into the finished product. We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer to join our development team and build integrations between enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and eCommerce platforms for our cutting-edge tax compliance solutions. Performance Objectives Here are some of the things we expect you to do when you join us : - Integrations and Connectors: Dig into our cloud native Avalara product suite. We are looking to build and expand our market penetration through an extensive suite of integrations and connectors through a flexible, extensible platform capable of handling any source platforms. At the same time, we want to expose all the tax nuances through our integrations. Help us build this while maximizing performance, scalability and reliability and making it oh-so-simple to operate. - Automation vs People Power : - Computers are great for process automation but there is a limit to what it can do, and you know where that limit is. - You will tackle the unique challenges that occur at the intersection of software and people driven tasks and apply these solutions to the novel business automation that Avalara aims to create. - Industry Leadership: Avalara is the market leader, and we intend on staying that way. You + Avalara equal endless possibilities! - Development, testing, and deployment of integrations between ERP systems (such as SAP, Microsoft, Oracle, NetSuite) and popular eCommerce platforms (such as Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce). - Develop custom APIs, connectors, and middleware to facilitate data exchange, synchronization, and real-time communication between different systems. - Implement robust error handling, data validation, and data transformation mechanisms to ensure data integrity and accuracy during integration processes. - Optimize integration performance and scalability to accommodate a growing number of clients and increasing data volumes. - Implement new features and maintain existing functionalities. - Perform code reviews and ensure coding standards and practices are followed. - Implement and follow agile/scrum processes. - Optimize code to improve application efficiency. - Take necessary corrective measures to address problems in application.What You'll Need to be Successful : - Bachelor/master's degree in computer science or equivalent - 3+ years of full stack experience in software design and development - Good understanding of Object-oriented programming languages - Basic understanding of ERP and eCommerce system architectures, APIs, data models, and authentication mechanisms. - Basic experience with RESTful APIs, JSON, XML, and other data interchange formats. - Familiarity with authentication protocols like OAuth and token-based authentication. - Experience in working in an Agile team with hands on with TDD, BDD - Knowledge of building CI/CD pipelines - Experience of working on AWS Cloud and DevOps (Terraform, Docker, ECS, etc.) would be beneficial. - Good analytical and troubleshooting skills to be able to solve complex problems and critical production issues.
