Adira Program Overview Adira Academy is a pioneering virtual micro high school dedicated to empowering exceptional girls from marginalized communities in India. Our mission is to provide transformative education, enabling these young women to become agents of positive change in their families, communities, and the nation. Position Overview The Literacy Curriculum and Facilitation Manager will work under the guidance of the Director of Curriculum and Facilitation. The candidate will play a crucial role in developing, implementing, and facilitating learning spaces for students in the Adira Program. This involves designing and delivering engaging learning experiences tailored to the students' needs, helping them develop the knowledge, skills, and strategies necessary for high school and competitive exams in English. Responsibilities include designing and implementing monitoring tools to evaluate student learning, collaborating with team members to improve the program, and working closely with facilitators to enhance learning experiences. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and adept at working in a dynamic environment, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A deep understanding of adult learning theory and program evaluation principles is essential, along with a commitment to the organization's mission. Roles and Responsibilities: Develop and implement a comprehensive English curriculum that meets students' needs, including: Foundational Literacy: Bring students up to the C1 level on the CEFR scale within two years. SAT English: Support students in achieving a 1400 SAT score through learning progression design, practice test data analysis, and need-based support. Critical Literacy: Create a curriculum that helps students build a worldview, find their voices, and articulate themselves. Create scaffolded, rigorous plans that motivate students. Use customized strategies to enable adaptive learning for each student. Regularly evaluate and assess curriculum effectiveness, making necessary modifications. Conduct student check-ins to provide support and guidance. Utilize standardized, reliable assessment tools to measure student progress. Set goals with and for students, and establish accountability mechanisms. Recommend appropriate resources, including software and instructional materials. Develop evaluation metrics for students and support the team with Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL). Key Qualifications & Experience Professional Experience: Minimum of two years of English teaching experience, preferably with high school students. Degree in English literature or self-taught critical literacy practices. Familiarity with the reading and writing workshop methodology. Passion for girls’ education and youth development. Proven facilitation and coaching skills. Experience working with adolescents in formal or informal educational settings. Strong organisational and detail-oriented skills. Data analysis skills. Personal Characteristics: Resourceful self-starter. Adaptable and flexible. Structured problem solver. Clear communicator. Ability to collaborate with a diverse group of people. Responsive to feedback and changing needs. Proximate Experience: Strong understanding of Indian culture and regional differences is highly desirable. Experience working with ESL learners. Knowledge of English literacy tech tools and assessments (e.g., Reading A to Z, CEFR assessments). Verbal communication skills in Hindi are preferred but not required.
