Description:
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Cognos BI Developer to join our growing team. You will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and implementing robust business intelligence (BI) solutions using IBM Cognos and potentially Power BI. You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders and data analysts to transform raw data into actionable insights that drive informed decision-making across the organization.Responsibilities :Cognos Expertise :- Possess in-depth knowledge of the IBM Cognos suite, including Framework Manager, Report Studio, Query Studio, Analysis Studio, and administration tools.- Design and develop complex data models using multi-dimensional modeling techniques (e., star schema, snowflake schema).- Develop interactive and user-friendly reports, dashboards, and visualizations that effectively communicate data insights.- Utilize advanced Cognos features such as security, scheduling, and parameterization.- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in Cognos technologies and best practices.Power BI (Optional) :- Experience with Microsoft Power BI is a plus, with the ability to develop reports and dashboards in both platforms based on project needs.- Collaborate with teams using Power BI to ensure seamless integration and data consistency across reporting platforms.Data Analysis and Transformation :- Work closely with data analysts to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.- Cleanse, transform, and prepare data for analysis using SQL or other data manipulation tools (if required).Project Management and Collaboration :- Participate in the full BI development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment and ongoing support.- Work effectively with business stakeholders, data analysts, and IT teams to ensure project success.- Document technical specifications and maintain clear and concise code.Migration Experience (Preferred) :- Prior experience with Cognos migration projects is a plus, with the ability to migrate existing reports and models to newer versions.Qualifications :- Minimum of 12 years of experience in BI development, with a strong focus on Cognos.- Proven track record of successfully designing, developing, and deploying complex BI solutions using Cognos.- Excellent understanding of data modeling concepts and techniques.- Strong SQL and data manipulation skills (preferred).- Experience with report writing tools and visualization techniques.- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and development processes.- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.- Ability to work independently and as part of a team (ref:hirist.tech)
