Job Title : Storage/Backup EngineerLocation : Hyderabad (Working from Office)Position : Full TimeRequired Experience : 3 - 6 YearsRole and Responsibilities :Data Backup and Recovery :- Develop and implement data backup and recovery strategies and procedures to safeguard critical information.- Administer the Cohesity backup and recovery solution, which includes data protection, backup policies, and recovery operations.- Regularly schedule and perform backups of essential data to prevent data loss in case of system failures, disasters, or accidental deletions.- Test backup and recovery procedures to ensure they are effective and efficient.Storage Management :- Oversee storage infrastructure, including servers, storage devices, and network-attached storage (NAS) or storage area network (SAN) systems.- Optimize storage capacity and performance by monitoring usage and planning for future storage needs.- Implement data deduplication and compression techniques to maximize storage efficiency.- Configure and manage NetApp & Pure storage systems, including filers, arrays, and clusters.- Ensure data stored on NetApp / Pure systems is accessible, protected, and efficiently organized.- Configure and manage Pure Storage arrays and systems, ensuring high-performance, all-flash storage for critical workloads.- Hands on experience in managing and configuring Brocade switches.- Zoning and configuration of an HBA port and an iSCSI initiator is a required skillset.Communication Skills :- Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders, facilitate discussions, and present ideas clearly and concisely.Data Security :- Ensure the security of stored data through encryption, access controls, and user authentication.- Implement security best practices to protect data from unauthorized access, data breaches, and cyber threats.Disaster Recovery Planning :- Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans to minimize data loss and downtime in the event of a catastrophe.- Conduct regular tests and drills to validate the effectiveness of disaster recovery processes.- Leverage Cohesity's features for data mobility and disaster recovery, ensuring the organization's ability to recover from data loss or system failures.Vendor and Technology Management :- Evaluate and select storage and backup solutions, hardware, and software, and manage relationships with technology vendors.- Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to make informed decisions.Data Lifecycle Management :- Define data retention policies and oversee the deletion or archiving of data as required by legal and regulatory requirements.- Create backup and retention policies within Cohesity to automate data protection tasks.- Integrate Cohesity with existing storage and virtualization systems to provide comprehensive data management and protection.Monitoring and Performance Optimization :- Continuously monitor the storage and backup systems' performance and health.- Implement performance optimization strategies to ensure data availability and access speed.- Configure and manage NetApp / Pure storage systems, including filers, arrays, and clusters.- Ensure data stored on NetApp / Pure Storage systems is accessible, protected, and efficiently organized.- Fine-tune NetApp / Pure storage performance by optimizing caching, tiering, and data placement.Capacity Planning :- Plan for future storage needs based on data growth trends and the organization's requirements.- Allocate resources efficiently and scale storage infrastructure, as necessary.- Implement NetApp's data deduplication and compression features to reduce storage space usage.- Implement Pure Storage's data reduction techniques, such as deduplication and compression, to maximize storage efficiency.Documentation and Reporting :- Maintain documentation related to backup and storage processes, configurations, and procedures.- Generate reports to track backup success rates, storage usage, and other relevant metrics.Compliance and Auditing :- Ensure that the backup and storage systems adhere to industry and regulatory compliance standards.- Participate in audits and provide necessary documentation to demonstrate compliance.Troubleshooting and Support :- Troubleshoot issues related to backup and storage, resolve technical problems, and provide support to end-users as needed.Cost Management :- Control costs associated with storage and backup solutions, ensuring that the organization's budget is used effectively.- Manage data tiering within NetApp / Pure systems to move less frequently accessed data to more cost-effective storage tiers.Qualification / Skills Required :1. 3+ years' experience supporting storage infrastructure in a highly available, fault-tolerant enterprise environment.2. In-depth knowledge of engineering, administering, and supporting NetApp and Pure Storage systems3. Prior experience with NetApp Data ONTAP, NetApp NAS, NetApp Storage Grid and Pure Storages.4. Hands-on experience with enterprise SAN (Storage Area Network) management to include capabilities and technologies such as Fiber Channel zoning, FCoE (Fiber Channel over Ethernet) unified fabric, storage controllers, and LUN (Logical Unit Number), RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks), and file sharing / NAS (Network Addressable Storage).5. Working knowledge of Virtualization technologies and disaster recovery strategies.6. Experience supporting a storage infrastructure in Windows and Linux Server environments.7. Practical knowledge of SSL Certificates8. Experience with Cohesity clusters would be a huge plus.9. Good understanding of ITIL processes, especially Incident & Change management. (ref:hirist.tech)
