Description:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled PostgreSQL Database Administrator to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have 5 to 8 years of experience managing PostgreSQL databases, with a strong focus on performance tuning, backup and recovery, and high availability. You will be responsible for ensuring the stability, reliability, and performance of our PostgreSQL databases, working closely with development teams to support the database needs of various applications.Key Responsibilities :Database Management :- Install, configure, and upgrade PostgreSQL databases.- Manage database instances across development, testing, and production environments.- Perform routine database maintenance tasks, such as patching and upgrades.Performance Tuning and Optimization :- Monitor database performance and identify areas for improvement.- Optimize queries, indexing, and database configurations for optimal performance.- Conduct performance tuning and benchmarking.Backup and Recovery :- Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies.- Perform regular backups and ensure data recovery procedures are in place.- Conduct disaster recovery planning and testing.High Availability and Replication :- Set up and manage high availability solutions, such as replication and clustering.- Ensure database systems are highly available and meet SLA requirements.- Monitor and manage database replication processes.Security :- Implement and enforce database security policies.- Manage user access and permissions.- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.Collaboration and Support :- Work closely with development teams to optimize database interactions.- Provide database support for application deployments and troubleshooting.- Collaborate with system administrators to ensure hardware resources are adequate.Automation and Scripting :- Develop and maintain automation scripts for database management tasks.- Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) for database provisioning and configuration.Documentation and Best Practices :- Create and maintain comprehensive database documentation.- Establish and enforce database development standards and best practices.Required Qualifications :Technical Skills :- Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL database administration.- Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing.- Expertise in backup and recovery procedures and tools.- Knowledge of high availability solutions such as replication and clustering.- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or SQL.- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Nagios, Prometheus, ELK stack).Soft Skills :- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on data accuracy and quality.Preferred Qualifications :Experience :- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.- Familiarity with database automation and orchestration tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).- Knowledge of other database systems like MySQL, Oracle, or MongoDB.- Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.Education :- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
