About the Role : We are seeking a highly experienced DB2 Systems Programmer with a strong understanding of z/OS to join our team and play a critical role in managing and maintaining our DB2 environment. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, performance, security, and integrity of our business-critical databases. Responsibilities : - Install, configure, test, and migrate new versions of DB2 for z/OS. - Provide second and third-level support for applications that interact with DB2, troubleshooting and resolving complex database issues. - Manage and ensure the stability of distributed DB2 connections across the network. - Maintain a highly responsive OLTP (CICS) environment using DB2, ensuring optimal performance and data integrity. - Understand user needs and implement controls to monitor user access and database security. - Proactively monitor database performance and optimize parameters to deliver fast response times for front-end users. - Develop, document, implement, and test comprehensive backup and recovery plans to ensure data availability in case of outages. - Verify the proper functioning of storage and archiving procedures. - Perform capacity planning to anticipate future database needs and plan for resource allocation. - Collaborate effectively with technical, application development, and operational teams to ensure database health and security. - Implement and manage the security and disaster recovery aspects of the DB2 environment. - Ensure data security and maintain robust recovery controls to guarantee data retrievability in case of emergencies. Maintain all database and monitoring solutions on supported versions. Qualifications : - 10-15 years of experience in System Programming with a focus on DB2 for z/OS. - In-depth knowledge of DB2 for z/OS administration, configuration, and troubleshooting. - Solid understanding of z/OS concepts and utilities. - Experience with CICS and its interaction with DB2 is a plus. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. (ref:hirist.tech)
