Job Description for Position : Firmware Engineer III - Embedded SoftwarePosition Requirements :The right person for this position should have 6-9 years of experience in Embedded systems. He/She should be passionate, tech savvy, academically sound, have interest in embedded devices and technologies that drive the headless domain.Knowledge :1. Exposure to Microcontroller/Microprocessor Architecture /Family e.g. ARM Cortex, Microchip, Xtensa ESP32, TI CC32XX, Raspberry PI, iMX series, RISC V2. Knowledge of any RTOS - FreeRTOS, uC OS, EmbOSs, VxWorks, QNX3. Knowledge of embedded linux, device driver concepts and inter process communication4. Knowledge of Build toolchains and framework such as IAR, GCC, Keil, Mplab, Build root, Yocto 5. Knowledge of Microcontroller peripherals and drivers e.g. ADC, DAC, I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, RS485, DMA, Ethernet, SD/eMMC, SDIO, UFS6. Understanding of different types of analog & digital sensors and their qualification /verification process7. Knowledge of different types of motor control drivers and its working8. Knowledge of RF protocols WIFI, Zigbee, Bluetooth/BLE, IoT Cellular is a plus9. Knowledge of networking concepts like OSI layers, embedded TCP/IP stacks and common IP protocols is a plus10. Knowledge of IoT communication protocols MQTT, COAP, AMQP is a plus11. DFMA and DFMEA, Design release process12. Coding standards, guidelines, and compliance tools13. Version control and repositories using git tools14. Software quality assurance and automated testing toolsExperience / Skills :1. Reverse engineering2. Maintain, support & troubleshoot products already in production3. Embedded software design cycle 4. Documenting Software Design (flow charts, state diagram, logic design, analysis, implementation, debugging and testing etc)5. Good hands-on programming in Embedded C, C++6. Programming in scripting languages such as batch, shell, python, Nodejs is a plus.7. Experience with AWS/Google cloud for device connectivity. Exposure to IoT cloud services. e.g. AWS IoT is a plus.8. Protocol debugging using protocol analyzer9. Understanding of Schematic/ Hardware design around microcontrollers like ST, TI, Atmel, Microchip, ARM core Key Interfaces :1. Global Project team members2. GEC Engineering Team3. Local Marketing team4. Project Engineer / leader from BUs across Pentair.5. External vendors and suppliersQualifications and Experience : M.Tech/B.Tech in Computer Science / Electronics Engineering from a good Engineering College.Other Requirements : 1. Team player2. Good communication and presentation skills3. Ability to multitask4. Design Thinking5. Have passion for Design & Technology6. Should have a can do attitude7.
