RoleAs a Senior DevOps Solution Engineer, you will be part of the Professional Services team. Your mission is to help implement and operate complex deployments of R3's blockchain/distributed ledger platform Corda Enterprise. You will be the go-to expert for Cloud technologies, such as Azure, AWS and Google Cloud, within the team. You will act as a point of contact for your colleagues that are facing hard deployment challenges in deployment. You will be focusing on creating highly scalable architectures for distributed systems; therefore, you must have a strong understanding of infrastructure as code, with commercial experience in building out orchestration and infrastructure using tools such as Terraform and Ansible.As we expand our containerization story using Docker and Kubernetes, you will ensure best practices are implemented at scale by providing reference implementations to the wider team. You will take responsibility for these reusable artefacts by documenting them accordingly and advocating for their use.Responsibilities- Work hands-on in diverse customer environments (Cloud and on-Premises), following customer-mandated processes.- Assess project needs in Professional Services from deployment standpoint and recommend the best deployment strategy- Define best practices for all future Professional Services deployment activities. Be the expert in this field, constantly advocating for adherence to these practices.- Create reference implementation of automated Cloud Infrastructure and software deployments that are meticulously engineered so your colleagues in the field can rely on them.- Rapidly install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools for all environments under change control/configuration management.- Quickly and correctly diagnose issues with environments, including identifying patterns that could indicate a security threat.- Support the execution of tests and other activities on testing environments, including liaising with customers and associated project management and planning.- Deploy and operate internal/external testing environments.- Create, update and own environment configuration documentation.- Ensure parity between environments, where applicable.- Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.- Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.- Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes.- Maintain and operate security, backup, and redundancy strategies.- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of current technologies and trends in networking, hosting, operations.- Provide recommendations on site reliability, specifically around monitoring and alerting.- Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability, understanding scalability and disaster recovery.- Provide feedback to engineering teams on how to improve our product based to ensure optimal deplorability.Key Skills Required:- 10-15 years in DevOps roles. Bring extensive experience to the team for navigating complex infrastructure challenges.- Proficient in Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Git, and Terraform. Master the essential tools for effective DevOps practices.- Strong scripting skills (Python, Shell, or Ruby). Apply scripting expertise to automate tasks and enhance efficiency.- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP. Demonstrate proficiency in managing cloud environments.- Knowledge of Ansible or Puppet. Employ configuration management tools for efficient system setup.- Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack. Utilize monitoring tools to ensure optimal system performance.- Understanding of DevOps security best practices. Implement security measures throughout the development lifecycle.- Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork. Foster collaboration within cross-functional teams.Desired Skills:- Prior experience with Corda blockchain technology. Possess knowledge and experience in Corda deployments.- Understanding of financial industry and regulatory requirements. Apply industry knowledge to meet compliance standards.- Relevant certifications in DevOps, Cloud, or Security domains. Demonstrate commitment and expertise through certifications.- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
