Description:
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mainframe Systems Engineer to join our growing team. You will play a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance, availability, security, and stability of our mainframe environment.Primary Skills (Must-Have):- 10+ years of experience working with IBM mainframe systems (z/OS).- In-depth knowledge of z/OS architecture and core components (e g. , MVS, JES, IEF, SMP/E).- Expertise in system administration tasks, including:1. User and group management2. Job scheduling and monitoring3. System resource management4. System backup and recovery procedures5. System performance tuning and optimization- Strong understanding of mainframe security best practices and compliance requirements (e. g. , RACF, ACF2).- Proficiency in JCL (Job Control Language) for writing and submitting mainframe jobs.- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.- Strong communication and collaboration skills.- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Bonus Points:- Experience with DB2 for z/OS database administration.- Experience with CICS, IMS, or other mainframe transaction processing systems.- Experience with VSAM and other mainframe data storage solutions.- Experience with mainframe automation tools (e. g. , CA automation products, REXX scripting).- Experience with DevOps methodologies applied to the mainframe environment.- Mainframe monitoring and reporting tools experience.- Knowledge of cloud integration with mainframe systems.Responsibilities:- Manage and maintain the day-to-day operations of the z/OS environment.- Perform system administration tasks to ensure smooth operation and optimal performance.- Monitor system health and identify potential issues proactively.- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system problems.- Implement security best practices and maintain system security.- Automate routine tasks to improve efficiency.- Participate in system upgrades and migrations.- Work with developers and other IT teams to support mainframe applications.- Stay up-to-date with the latest IBM mainframe technologies and best practices.- Document procedures and processes for knowledge transfer.
